AIGHT KYLE AND KALU

Casualty of War

I am not sure what kind of statistics Gavin Spittle is looking at but I know one thing, they are jacked up.  I can think of a few times when I was disappointed in a show that ended too soon:

  • Good Times
  • Martin
  • Sunday Night Block Party
  • Freak Nic
  • Miami
  • Kyle and Kalu

RIP (KYLE KENNEDY KALU).  It was explained that both guys would remain in some capacity but that's bullcrap.  Maybe it's me over-valuing this show but it's better than alot of the programming on SR610.  This was one of the few shows where both guys actually have knowledge of Houston, welp that's gone.  Now I am forced to listen to alot of out of towners.

I realize Kalu will tri host the Pre and Post Game Shows but that's serious Kalu.  I mean it ain't like you going to hear any New Kids On the Block.  You know your show is hot if the Gavin Spittle "the clever sob" take an element out of your show and turn it into a "bit" on a prime time show.  The Top 3 on the Morning Show? C'mon nah, how many times have Kyle happened to mention something and all of a sudden it sparked a marathon of callers/texters.  Favorite video game, favorite local rapper, favorite rocker.  This idea was taken and polished to create the top 3.  No one is not saying these guys are the most knowledgeable but they are entertaining and I am sure once football starts I could careless about them bums but as of now it stinks.

All jokes aside, I hope in some way, they can hook back up.  They are one of the few shows outside of Ralph Cooper and John & Lance people actually feel like they have a connection with.  Everyone else these days are going through the motions.  I must say Matt Thomas is quickly becoming one of the rising stars.  In today's market when the majority of the hosts are regarded as arrogant pricks, shouldn't you be trying to advance it?

I was very pleased to hear on Sunday Kyle and N.D. covering TSU V Prairie View labor Day Classic.  I mean sure they didn't go all out but at least they acknowledged them.  Babysteps peoples babysteps because if you think you would have gotten this out of Marc Vandermeer, John Lopez, Rich Lord or Robert Henslee you are seriously mistaken.

LAST FIGHT

Over the last year on air, Kalu and I would have a fundamental disagreements on issues from local rap, high schools, etc.  I have one last argument with Mr. Kalu.  On my last call to their show, I gave the guys props for mentioning The labor Day Classic.  Kalu said we try to give what the people want.  I laughed it off while saying well maybe I should write about HBU and St. Thomas.  Mr. Kalu in your opinion do you feel the people wanted to hear about Jack Yates in a positive way versus the way SR610 portrayed them?
