TIGER ON THE PROWL!

There's no need to repeat the many times over told story of Tiger Woods' "transgressions" and now it has ended his marriage to supermodel, Elin Nordegren. In case you were sleeping under a rock for the past year, here’s a "Cliffs Notes" version: Tiger cheats, wife finds out, whips his butt, Tiger tries to escape, crashes his Escalade, and then the story behind the beat down leaks to the media.

Although I expect to be attacked by a mob of angry wives for saying this, but this divorce is the best possible scenario for Tiger (the golfer). If you take a look back at his career, Tiger's game has not been as consistent since he married Elin, even before she teed off on his forehead with a nine iron last November. I'm not saying that she's to blame for that; it's just a matter of Tiger "settling".

He was not nearly as aggressive as the scrawny, nerdy looking kid that rose through the ranks and dominated the field. Since their marriage, we’ve seen flashes of the old Tiger, but not the consistency. It was clear that at least subliminally for the past few years that Tiger wasn't the same guy.

He's just so damn much better than the rest that his B+ game is better than everyone else's “A” game. Woods married Elin in November 2003. That year he did not win a major nor did he in 2004, falling to second in the PGA Tour money list in 2003 and fourth in 2004. In September 2004, his record streak of 264 consecutive weeks as the world's top-ranked golfer came to an end at the Deutsche Bank Championship, when Vijay Singh won and overtook Woods in the Official World Golf Rankings.

Now that he has “nothing to lose”, I think that we will see a re-emergence of the old Tiger who prior to that relationship had nothing to focus on but golf. He will take out his frustrations on the golf course, and be the animal that he was before, to hell with trying to be humble anymore; man just swing. He’ll knock down those putts and will do the fist pump thing again.

He will be the center of attention before, during, and after each tournament and will instill the feeling of insecurity and fear in his opponents like he used to. The media buzz will die down now that the entire story has come out and there’s no more juice in the grapevine and we’ve seen the end of the flick.

It’s clear that the turmoil surrounding the infidelity scandal was affecting his game. Now that he has a clear mind, a clear conscience and a bank account that survived his ex-wife’s best punch, my boy Tiger is going to come back to take what’s his.

The endorsements will start to trickle in once he starts dominating again (just like they did for Kobe Bryant) and he’ll be just fine. I feel sorry for the other golfers in the field because they will be looking up at his name on the leader board for quite some time.
