THE CRIER'S BCS ELIMINATION TOURNAMENT:

WEEK #5: AND THEN THERE WERE SIX LITTLE INDIANS, AS THE UTAH UTES GET ELIMINATED AS A PRETENDER!

The Crier’s playoff elimination tournament started four weekends ago with 28 teams and saw 21 of those teams get knocked out during the first four weeks.

Now you can add another team (Utah) that finds itself out of the "Bigger Dance", as they lost during Week #5 of the tourney.

There was one head-to-head match-up this week between tourney teams, as TCU scalped Utah, 47-7. For the season, the Crier is 6-5 SU and 7-4 ATS cumulative after five weeks of this unique tournament.

Please be reminded again that according to tournament rules, all tourney losers are out of the hunt no matter how well they play the remainder of the season.

As mentioned previously, the purpose of these rankings is to determine the top two teams standing at the end-of-play on December 4. Hopefully, the BCS people will have the same two teams as "The Crier" for their championship game when all is said and done.

Below are the results of this past week:

Rank -Team - Record – Opponent – Score

1 Oregon (9-0) beat Washington, 53-16
2 TCU (10-0) beat Utah, 47-7
3 Stanford (8-1) beat Arizona, 42-17
4 Auburn (10-0) beat Chattanooga, 62-24
5 Boise State (8-0) beat Hawaii, 42-7
6 Utah (8-1) lost to TCU, 47-7
7 Wisconsin (8-1) beat Purdue, 34-13

Of the remaining six teams, there are none from the Big East, ACC, and Big 12. Of the remaining BCS Conferences, the PAC 10 is represented by Oregon and Stanford; the SEC is represented by Auburn; and the Big 10 is represented by Wisconsin.

Of the non-BCS Conference schools, TCU represents the Mountain West while Boise State represents the WAC.

On Tuesday, the revised rankings of the remaining six teams will be posted here. Please note that there are no head-to-head match-ups next week.

NBA ACTION

Yesterday’s Record ATS: 1-1
Cumulative Season Record ATS: 20-8

Today’s Action (for reading purposes only):

PHILADELPHIA (+7.5) over NEW YORK*

Strange game tips off at noon and you never know how teams will react. Both points like to push the ball, so don’t expect much defense here. Talent against experience in the middle with Amar’e going against Elton Brand. Expect Knicks to pull off a close one with Andre Iguodala likely to miss the game because of an injured Achilles tendon. NEW YORK, 105-104

GOLDEN STATE (-1) over DETROIT* (UNDER 206.5)
Coach Keith Smart will try to change the mindset of the Warriors, but it will not be easy especially because they are guard oriented anyway with Monta Ellis and Steph Curry doing the bulk of the scoring along with former Knick David Lee, who chipped in with 15 bounds in the win over Utah Friday. Tracy McGrady is not the answer to the Pistons. He wasn’t shut out of recent gigs because he has a lot left in the tank and the former scoring leader is running on empty. Expect Austin Daye to emerge as an important clog in the Piston engine but not convinced Pistons will be able to run with this fast and hungry squad. GOLDEN STATE, 95-88
