When they ask 245i (April 2001 Deadline) people to submit the application for legal status (Labor.. i-140 ..etc) why didn't they also create the VISA Number for them?
It's legal immigrant taking the hit because of illegal immigrants.
They should define completly different path and laws to make illegals to legal.

We WILL get 10K+. (I will not be surprised if it is double that number) Here is why:
Its just that we have not yet reached everyone in the community yet. Everyone reading this message, please make sure to pass on the rally information to at least one person you know, this weekend. Then ask that person to pass it on further.
Let us use all our networking to best use here. 10K is not a difficult number. When we started this organization, we could not even get 10 people together, but nobody gave up hope.
The success of the rally, this cause and our own greencard issues depends on each one of us. I'm sure we are all capable of sharing this responsibility.

Got the same too. I git frustrated and sent out an e-mail on Friday. Not sure if I should really fill in the form. What a mess at every stage :mad:
I got an automated response from ombudsman saying that I will have to fill out a formal inquiry in the form of 7001. That's the form to fill out if you want ombudsman to inquire into your case.

Same situation here too. My husband came to this country in 1999. Filed for greencard in 2004. Labor was sent to philly BEC and it got cleared in September 2007 so we too missed the window too. Not sure what to do

That was a great post from "snathan" and a very touching one as well. Thanks dude.
I see few comments saying otherwise and even pushing "snathan" to pull back his original post. But the way I see it, "snathan" never adviced or forced it on anyone. There are always good and bad things everywhere and upto the matured minds to see what to take and what not to. But to deprive someone of that piece of advice or information or a story for that matter, is what I would term it bad.
Well, if this arrived too late for someones current relation, it should definitely help the next one. After all life doesn't end until the last breath.

Do we have to attach photographs when we e-file for AP ?
For E-filing AP, you dont get any Finger Printing, so you have to send 2 photographs with your application.
Please make sure you write your name and Alien Number (A#) on the back of the photographs.

Hi Shamu,
A colleague/friend of mine and his wife decided to have a home delivery. So, they contacted this nurse practitioner/midwife, who used to come to his home once a month and do all the stuff that goes along with pregnancy. They also delivered the baby at his home, which took off all the expense that are associated with a hospital delivery and I'm pretty sure the entire cost for the 9 month term was <5K (actually around 2-3K).
But I believe that was possible because it was a normal delivery with no complications.
So, if you and your wife are in the same situation as most of the people here (i.e. late 20's or early to mid 30's ) there is no reason why you would not have a normal uncomplicated delivery. So having a home delivery is an option.
I am a father of a 15 month old and felt that most of the months that we went to visit the doctor was pretty superficial. They did not tell us anything which you cannot find out from the internet or the maternity books. Who delivered my daughter in the hospital? Well a nurse did.
Also in India my wife told me that most often women don't go to the doctor unless there are issues. (For the period leading up to the delivery. For delivery they go to the doctor.)
So, for uncomplicated deliveries a home delivery could be an option, just check it out and the nurse practitioners (OBGYN variety)/midwives are fully qualified and sometimes more experienced than the doctors as that is ALL they do, they deliver babies.
So check this option if you feel it is OK.
Good luck with your insurance search.

Then changed employer with AC21 who does not have insurance, so bought individual insurance. Until now I have not realized that being in a group insurance is such a great benefit. But I am exploring options and I expect some thing will come out.
I am not yet under panic mode and have so many good frineds at IV. That is a great moral support, at least I believe.

I agree with Munna Bhai on this. There is no need to put salt on the wound , we should help if we can on the issue in hand instead of judging others.
Were you witness to what happened in his home on that day?? If not, don't be judgemental....leave that to him and his wife and to family court. IV is not for "every good cause"...we are having very difficult time ourself...
Looks like you already received GC and you have great & lot of time to get into other issue.

i have read of instances when the PD was successful and few instances when it was not...
so i am not sure..what the criteria is..
but if you are in the same industry..PD porting should not be an issue..
....

Your case is a bit different, I am not sure if you could avoid paying back as GC process is for your benefit so a company could request a pay-back, even though amount is a bit high and you did not get anything in return. I would compare it to a situation where company gives an employee a laptop and expect person to return it when s/he leaves a company.
helloh1's clause is different - company receives benefits by training its employees so it's just plain wrong to request a pay back in that case.
So just forget about it and move on, we all make mistakes and here in the US those mistakes usually cost money.

I request everybody to add one line in the letter for Consular processing filers as they should be allowed to get AC21 and EAD facilities now. This law came earlier only for 485 filers because CP process was fast but now due to retrogession all CP filers are waiting for Years and in the worst sitauation as 485 filers are enjoying their freedom with AC21 and EAD

Plassey, regarding your thoughts and comments let me tell you something "GC is not the best thing in the world, for which one has to be so depressed and cry in bathroom". If you have talent and belief you can survive in any condition. I am not a preacher nor a saint, but nobody can stand such insolent reply from you. Good luck to you for the rest of day.

- How has greencard changed your life after receiving it?
GC arrival does change the life little bit. My frequent anxiety regarding various renewals like EAD, AP, H1/H4 vanished along with the tons of documentation that I have to do for those. I was struck to my current job during this process and continued the same way even after GC, but I am about change that soon. GC now provides me the ability to compete with others in the open market and provide me the confidence.
- What did you do on the day you received it?
I just went to the Temple and thank God for finally receiving it during my life time!
- How did the long wait upset your life?
More than me, it upsets my wife a lot. This does take a toll on her as she is confined to home and occasional voluntary services. She is now vigorously pursuing for a job in this down market and finding it difficult to compete with others, who have recent US job experience.
- How did immigrationvoice help you during this long wait?
IV helped to be better informed about various processes, procedures. This also helped me to deal with the attorneys directly by-passing the paralegals, who have little knowledge and to get the attorney�s much needed attention to my cases.
- Would you like to continue your support to immigration voice and help others waiting?
Yes. I do visit the forum from time to time and provide my experience and get updated with the changing rules, regulations and the visa status.
- Any advice for everyone?
As we are the people in no man�s land, I would suggest every one to be united to support the noble and good cause to revamp this system. I was driven away by the infighting and bickering and do not understand what benefits that is going to provide. Though I understand the pain, frustration and agony for the uncertain wait for this process, I would like to remind everyone that this is the time where we may need to be more united and welcome others instead of fighting among ourselves.
Once anyone received his greencard, please update the IV tracker too. We like to see how many members in IV are greencard holders and what is the current trend of approvals in our membership

I came in US on 06/03/2001. When I came I was told, no project for me right now and I have to wait. I waited till 09/11/2001 WITHOUT pay.
The first time I was on my company payroll was in 09/11/2001. Since then as of today I am working continously.
AM I IN PROBLEM?
Please comment and give me hope.

You need to file form 4852. That is super easy and I have filed it once.

You employer cannot pull a single hairstring from your head. So do not worry about the legal notice. That is all bull. He is probably worrying day and night about the DOL complaint you made.
What you need to, further, is go to the local IRS office and talk to one of the employee about not getting your W-2. Not providing a W-2 is serious issue.

If there is a media drive, I am sure other media will love to rape him and that may work against CNN and CNN will start watching things closely.
This can be just a start but I think we must target this guy - I am sure he will start turning tables and flip flop ...

Please refrain from pushing OP to post employer details on public forum. Let it be OP�s weapon of surprise. I wish OP has contacted an attorney for fighting his case. If this is going to be an out of court settlement, then we shouldn�t expect complete details as well. OP's story should be an eye opener for all of us(Employees and Employers).
