I understand the informational part of your post, but i don't understand the bad news part of it. How does getting a 2yr EAD change your I-485 processing? It will get processed whenever it supposed to be processed next.
There are ppl like me - EAD is pending for over 3.5 months and there's no decision. Be content with the fact that yours was approved in time and it's icing on cake that it's 2 yrs validity. the way i see it, it's all good news. Point me to the bad news please.

If you are taking one day off, it is only one day. Work extra hours on the other four working days in the week.

This is clearly crap.
Either USCIS or your attorney screwed up.
In either case, ask your former attorney to provide the letter he wrote to USCIS to withdraw his representation. If he did what you asked, good forward the same to USCIS with a MTR and then file a DHS7001 form (google if you dont know the form) with USCIS Ombudsman.
if your attorney screwed up, hire another one first to file an MTR along with your communication to your attorney (also file DHS7001) showing that its the attorney who screwed up and not you. Next hire a good litigation attorney and beat the crap out of this slimy attorney and get him to pay some good $$$.
I sincerely hope its the former and not the latter. Even if its the latter, stay positive and engage a good attorney and litigate. You sure will win some $$$. :)

I moved out of GE Hyderabad and came to US. I decided to pull all the money from PF. So I submitted the application and came to US and forgot. I got the full amount within 90 days to the bank account specified. I was really impressed the way India is improving

It is unbelievable how much emphasis is being given to the family based immigration when this bill strives to eliminate their backlog!!! ......and amazingly enough there are very few voices (IV being one) that are really crying about the injustice to the employment based GC and H1 programs..........we have to work on getting through to mainstream media guys......its unbelievable that we are not even on the board as far as close door immigration deal negotiations are concerned.........

If Republicans control the House, they will be too bitter because they can't repeal the Health Care Reform, and will not let CIR pass in 2011. Best hope is 2012 now. Obama could have easily passed CIR in past 2 years, instead he focused all his efforts on health care..

This is a very valid point. If employer or his lawyer asks more money in fees for filing I485 it is always better to go thro employer if he files I485 promptly. But if the delay is intention of the employer then use your own Lawyer.

i have read of instances when the PD was successful and few instances when it was not...
so i am not sure..what the criteria is..
but if you are in the same industry..PD porting should not be an issue..
....

In your case, it appears that you did not send the approval copy of the first I-140 along with 2nd I-140 application.
Probably, you can send the approval of EB-2 I-140 with earlier PD, along with I-485 receipt copy to the Service Center and ask them to allot the earlier PD. Please take the assistance of attorney for doing this.

Why did you choose your screen name as 'Hopefull'? Are you hopeful about yourself? Or are you hopeful about others? Or may for everyone? Either way your message and tone of your post doesn't sound hopeful for anybody. Could you please consider changing your screen name to "HOPELESS"? This would help eliminate the hypocrisy due to your screen name. What do you say?

Your argument is similar to "And they lived happily ever after ...(after singing around green trees) ...." ignoring the ground reality, facts that no dent has been made and also turninga blind eye to the fact that there are people since 2001/2002 stuck. Its 2007 meaning five years and if the Dept is not willing to budge after all these efforts to a number more than 7000, and you still are HOPEFULL ignoring the facts means that you are an idiot. Yes you will get your GC before you die for sure provided you live upto the age of appx 70 and your consulting firm is around and you are not tired of the bickering with your employer.
Its just like a Yash Chora SRK movie ...it only happens in reel life and not real life ..
