RAHEEL RAMZANALI AND DAVID NUNO: WE ARE EFFING BACK BY LM

RAHEEL AND DAVID NUNO: WE ARE EFFING BACK BY LM

One of the funniest scenes in cinema over the last two years was in the movie Hangover.  The fat kid begin counting cards in a Las Vegas casino which landed the crew 82 thousand dollars.  In the car as they drove to the Mojave desert, the cool dude screamed "We are back, we are f____ back".  Classic.  Can all of you picture David Nuno driving to the studio screaming "we are back, we are effing back".  Unless you are living under a rock, David Nuno and Raheel have reunited.  Monday, the two will kickoff a five hour bonanza with a slew guest to welcome them back.  It's seems like only 4 months ago, I heard the two together, oh wait, it was.  There are some things I have to get off my chest about this show and the way it's marketed.

TOO MANY DAMN REUNIONS

I guess this is a 1560 deal but damn how many reunions can a show have.  David returned to days almost 3 weeks ago along side Raheel so technically he's been back but now since he's going to five days a week there's another reunion.  Newsflash, this is not a big deal, this is somewhat pathetic of how many changes the Game's lineup is enduring.  If I were running things, I wouldn't have made this a big deal because it's a direct reflection to who's in charge.  It's a weak argument but as much change I have witnessed at 1560, these reunions become mute.

Stop all of this reshuffling of talent, your audience is not stupid.  In the real world when you are having these many changes in a calendar or fiscal year, you have problems.  I am not talking about employees taking sick or vacation therefore you have to substitute, I am talking about schedule changes.  Someone has to have the balls to see, new talent is needed.  Theres nothing cool or fly about hearing different shows every 3 months.  Ever wondered  how John and Lance Show maintained stability over 4 years?  The Brando excuse is dead, either 1560 is going to have to have to ride out a show for it's duration or bring in some talent that can.  As much as I want to get excited about Raheel, David and Sean, I know it's literally only a matter of months before it changes.  Major turnoff.

OLD SCHOOL
I'm on the outside looking in on this as Lesbian Craig told me "1560 was going in on 610 at their inception".  In other words, when 1560 The Game first launched, they barbecued any and everything affiliated with 610.  They were raw.  At the time, I was a 610 hunk so I never witnessed this for myself and over the last year since I have been listening, I have heard some residuals.  With that being said, when the news of David Nuno returning to day time, he made mention that they are going back to the OLD STYLE.
Almost like Busta Rhymes, Everything Remains Raw.  David is hinting to the point that they are about to get it on.  From HMW's standpoint, all I can say is "radio is about to get fun", I like a good fight.  I am not taking this as David picking a fight with 610, I take this as David telling the competition, "getcho game up".  However, I do have some thoughts about this raw radio, when I go into a fight, I like to know the guy on my side is going carry his weight.  I don't see that in Raheel.  In addition to, four years ago the dynamics were different, the only person at CBS that would have got with 1560 on all levels was Lesbian Craig and The Frat but 1560 was not wilding on Craig.  Everyone else at CBS was fair game. Now Lesbo is gone but 610 have another person who will buck back, Josh Innes.  If David thinks his fly comments towards 610 is going to go unchallenged, he's deeply mistaken.  I am sure David know this and have no problem with it but it's not going to be a cake walk.

THE GUYS

A couple of things I expect from the show.  Raheel has to stay away from race talk.  I feel he visits the race card a tad bit too often.  I don't mind when he is stating valid points but just like black people, if you are yelling racism every minute, when racism really happens, it's lost.  I would like to see David Nuno more in a Point Guard (lead) role for the show.  If you listen around town to dual hosted shows, there is always that one person in a lead and I attribute it to experience.  When I am listening to David and Raheel, it sounds like Raheel is the lead. Raheel is good but it gets to a point where his voice becomes noise because he talk over his cohost.  Craig and I were talking about Raheel and what noticed, he and Adam Wexler are similar. We feel they are working out of place, Raheel should be in more of a Sports Director role.  He definitely has  utility for 1560 but I don't feel it's as an on air personality.  Finally, Mid Mornings need to feed off the inertia of John and Lance show.  Maybe this is Sports Radio 610 spoiling me to programs starting on time but Raheel and David need to start at 10, this 10:07 AM crap is trash.  The guys need to be in studio on air 5 to 10 minutes before their show so they can start at the time announced.  Yes, I know they are independent and their clock may be different and they have leeway but hell the average fan don't know this, I am different because I'm a professional radio listener.  Stop giving the fans the perception of a damn frat party and treat this shit like a profession.  This is not an indictment pointed only at David and Raheel, this is the whole station.

WRAP IT UP

By default, you have to cheer for 1560 because they are the under dog but is that the problem?  Stop telling us you are the under dog and become the top dog.  The Game's talent can stand next to any of the sports stations in this town.  When I think of 1560, it reminds me of a lyric by Camron,  "I was told I was good but not promoted right".  I want to see Billboards, TV Commercials, cards, fliers and everything else 1560.  The only thing that's marketed (in my opinion) is John and Lance as they should but they are showing they alone can't carry the HOGSKIN.  I think the addition of Sporting News Radio is awesome but not enough locally.

In a time when sports is straight trash in Houston, this is the perfect time for 1560 to standout.  In this dry period of sports locally, 1560 can capitalize big time because of talent and sports knowledge.  This is where your money is earned, it's real easy for everyone to shine when the Astros and Rockets are making the playoffs, and the Texans are mediocre but when shit gos south, the brightest star shines.

Theres a misconception that listeners are station hopping and that's misleading when you see your Ocho Textos talking to Sean Pendergast, Larry's talking to Lance, Lamont's talking to everyone but that's because we are sports fans, what's happening is people are leaving the market all together.  People are leaving the market in droves and HMW hear it via email, phone calls, and social media of people saying "sports talk is trash".  People are not feeling what's presented because they feel our local media are Ass Kissers.  I on the other hand being the Professional Radio Listener I am have listened to other markets during football season and I am hear to say, outside of Washington DC, I was not impressed with other markets.

In this downtime of sports in Houston, 1560 must capitalize,  You can't sit on your thumb and wait for football season to give you that bump, you have to go get it.

Prime Example:Three months ago when we learned that Matt Thomas would be doing spring ball with the Astros thereby taking his duties from 790, there was no way in hell you could have told me to listen to Sean Pendergast but low and behold, Sean capitalized on Matt's absence.  I am at that Professional Radio Listener point, if i don't hear some of Sean's show I feel as if I missed something.  Plain and simple, Sean seized the moment, he hooked me.  I understand Sean has to handle me differently than other tweeters and callers because the nature of what I do (that's cool) but he WENT IN when Matt was out.  I am not saying Sean was sitting in a room with a black light plotting a scheme to take over Noon time radio but he definitely acquired one more fan.  This is what I envisioned with John Granato making the move to go local nights with Raheel and David to compete against Barry and Shaun but he ejected.
